THE CAPE'S BEST SAUVIGNON BLANC HAILS FROM ELGIN
IONA

"One of my favourite Cape sauvignons, with so much classic, elegant, lively, floral, nettle and white currant fruit that it will shock even the French." - Jane MacQuitty - The Times, London
Dear Friends,
Cape Ardor is extremely proud to kickstart 2010 with this crisp and elegant Sauvignon blanc from South Africa's coolest vineyards. We were lucky enough to visit this beautiful winery last year where we sealed our allotment of possibly the best Sauvignon blanc we have ever tasted. Well, it just arrived on our shores and we are so excited to share this accomplished, delicate, gentle and grassy wine with our friends.
The wines of Iona come from a dramatically unique site that are situated on a mountain plateau 420 meters above sea level, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In a country where cool sites are precious, these vineyards are like gold. The climate ensures long, slow physiological ripening of the grapes under ideal growing conditions, with the sugar, ph, acid and flavor compounds being in balance to produce elegant wines of distinction.
Owner Andrew Gunn and family have restored this once apple growing farm into a successful wine growing estate, representing the best of South Africa's varietals.
"A really fine, elegant South African Sauvignon. It has a very pure, minerally nose with subtly herbal, gently grassy fruit. The palate is really minerally with some savory, cut pepper notes, but also a bit of lemony fruit. It’s quite subtle but full flavored, and would be great with a wide range of different foods, especially a really fresh, simply prepared grilled sea bass. This is one of the best South African Sauvignons I’ve yet tried." 90/100 - Jamie Goode, The Sunday Express, London
The wine simply speaks for itself and as a new product we are offering this zesty, crisp Sauvignon blanc for $15.99. Try a few bottles and remember there is an additional 5% off on cases (mixed OK).
